The Maryland MTA has proposed major changes to the Brunswick Line schedule (view it here), such that a large number of Montgomery County stations will lose some of their train service, West Virginia Riders will lose the 7:15 PM Departure to Martinsburg, and Frederick riders will endure a lengthened commute. While the MARC Riders Council supports changes to foster better and expanded Brunswick Line service, the proposed changes cause us concern.

DECEMBER 12 UPDATE: Two-Thirds of all West Virginia riders oppose the proposed Brunswick Line schedule according to an MRAC survey. Full details are now posted on our WEST VIRGINIA BRUNSWICK SURVEY RESULTS page.

MTA Proposes Big Changes to Brunswick Line; Council Concerned

The MTA will be holding various Town Hall and Meet the Management events over the next few weeks. While the Council has stressed to the MTA that formal hearings are required by Maryland state law for reductions in service to stations, we encourage riders to make their voices heard at one of these meetings.  A schedule is provided below. The best thing that you can do is to make your voice heard! Head out to one of the meetings and give the MTA your input. While the die has been cast, there is still time to alter the schedule, but that won’t happen without a groundswell of feedback.
